Sweden-based refined oils and fats producer AAK said May 31 that it is investing in a customization plant in the Philippines.
"This will strengthen our position in yet another important Asian market," Torben Friis Lange, the company's Asia president, said in the release.
The plant will be located in the city of Batangas, on land owned by oils and fats refinery San Pablo Manufacturing Co. It will initially be focused on solutions within the company's special nutrition, chocolate, and confectionery fats and dairy divisions, but will eventually also supply specialty solutions within other segments.
The company also expects its presence in the country to strengthen its efforts in sustainable sourcing.
The new facility is set to become operational by the end of the year.
