Pay TV operator Sky Italia SRL made Netflix Inc. available on its home entertainment platform Sky Q, Digital TV Europe reported.
Subscribers of Sky Italia's Entertainment Plus package worth €15.39 per month will gain access to Netflix's standard tier, which offers simultaneous HD viewing on up to two screens. Those subscribed to the Sky Q Platinum offer will get Netflix's premium tier with simultaneous 4K/Ultra HD viewing on up to four screens.
A stand-alone monthly Netflix subscription costs €11.99 for the standard plan and €15.99 for the premium plan, according to the report.
The launch came on the heels of the streaming giant revealing plans to open an office in Italy, invest about €200 million in Italian films over the next two years, and co-produce content with broadcaster Mediaset SpA.
In September 2018, Sky Italia's parent entity Sky Ltd. bundled Netflix into a new package dubbed Ultimate on Demand for U.K. and Irish customers. Sky Deutschland GmbH followed months later by adding Netflix to its Sky Q offering in Germany and Austria.
Comcast Corp. owns Sky.
