Stafford Capital closes timberland fund at US$612M

Stafford Capital Partners Inc. closed the Stafford International Timberland VIII Fund, or SIT VIII fund, at $612.5 million.

The company originally sought to raise $500 million for SIT VIII to continue its specialist timberland funds which focus on secondary positions in existing timberland funds and on timberland co-investments.

The amount was raised from existing and new investors from the U.K., Europe and the U.S., according to a May 11 release.

The company committed 21% of the fund toward three secondary investments and one co-investment with "leading timberland managers."
