Finnish sports apparel and equipment producer Amer Sports Corp. said Sept. 5 that it is placing its Mavic cycling business under strategic review.
The company disclosed the move in an announcement outlining strategy updates. Mavic, which offers wheels, tires, helmets, footwear and apparel products for cycling, accounts for approximately 3.5% of the company's group sales, according to the release.
Amer Sports also indicated that it will soon complete the current strategy cycle for its fitness and sports instruments businesses.
As part of the updates, the company said it will modify its portfolio towards areas of faster growth, higher profitability and better asset efficiency. These areas include its softgoods business through Peak Performance, the company it acquired in April.
Amer Sports said it will also strengthen its business-to-consumer efforts and its business in China.
