First responders can now sign up for FirstNet public safety service at more than 5,300 AT&T Inc. retail stores across the U.S., according to a June 11 news release.
In 2017, all 50 states, two territories and the District of Columbia opted into the First Responder Network Authority and AT&T's plan to design and build a dedicated wireless broadband network for their respective public safety communities.
FirstNet is the country's first nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to first responders. The platform was built with AT&T, in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, an independent authority within the Department of Commerce.
