Amazon.com Inc. said Jan. 7 that it has teamed up with Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC to explore auto-replenishment technologies for consumer goods, a program that Amazon discontinued in August 2019.
Amazon had previously offered press-to-order Dash Buttons, helping consumers reorder products from brands including Tide, Lysol, Red Bull, Pampers, Bounty, Clif, Pop Tarts and more.
The Seattle-based e-commerce company decided to disable the buttons in 2019 without disclosing the reason behind its decision. However, Amazon continued to offer the auto-repurchasing service through virtual Dash Buttons on Amazon's online marketplace.
Most recently, the British maker of health and household products said it will work with Amazon to develop an auto-replenishment system through Amazon Dash Replenishment. The companies provided prototypes of four RB products with smart auto-reordering capabilities during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The products include the Enfamil NeuroPro Never Run Out Pack, which automatically places an order through Amazon.com if it detects that the product container is running out of formula.
