U.S. President Donald Trump's chief economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, is in good condition after suffering a "very mild" heart attack, the White House said.
"Our Great Larry Kudlow, who has been working so hard on trade and the economy, has just suffered a heart attack. He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center," Trump tweeted from Singapore minutes before he met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders later released a statement saying Kudlow's doctors expect him to "make a full and speedy recovery," media outlets reported.
Kudlow, who is the director of the National Economic Council, vigorously defended Washington's stance on trade tariffs at a G-7 ministerial meeting last week and accompanied Trump to the G-7 summit in Quebec on June 8 and June 9.
Kudlow spoke against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's remarks on trade negotiations with the U.S. at a postsummit press conference which contradicted Trump's earlier statements, saying Trudeau's comments made the U.S. look weak ahead of the meeting with North Korea.
"He really kind of stabbed us in the back," Kudlow told CNN in a televised interview June 10.
