DoubleDragon JV to develop Philippines' biggest hotel in Boracay

DoubleDragon Properties Corp., its subsidiary Hotel of Asia Inc. and Newcoast South Beach Inc. are laying out the groundwork for the joint development of a 1,001-room beachfront hotel in the resort island of Boracay in the Philippines.

Hotel101 Resort-Boracay is billed to become the biggest hotel in the country in terms of number of rooms it will have, with the trio planning to develop the property on a two-hectare site within the premises of the 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast estate owned by Megaworld Corp. unit Global-Estate Resorts Inc.

The hotel will feature rooms with balconies, retail and dining elements, a business center, and meeting rooms, among other amenities, according to a release.

The project will be DoubleDragon's fourth development under its Hotel101 brand, following establishments in Manila, Taguig and Davao City. The company is targeting to have a total of 5,000 hotel rooms for the portfolio by 2020.
