Brazil's B3 plans to buy 'small stake' in Argentine bourse

Brazil stock exchange operator B3 SA – Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão is looking to purchase a "small stake" in Argentine bourse Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos SA, Bloomberg News reported, citing B3's CEO Gilson Finkelsztain.

In December 2017, it was reported that B3 was in direct contact with Brazilian fund UNA Capital Ltda., which was building a stake in BYMA. B3 could use UNA Capital as an intermediary for a possible buyout of the Argentine bourse, given that the Brazilian company cannot buy BYMA directly due to regulatory issues.

B3 was formed through the merger between BM&FBOVESPA SA and Cetip SA. It is the world's seventh-largest bourse by market value, Bloomberg said.
