Streaming aggregator JustWatch buys media search engine

Berlin-based video streaming aggregator JustWatch GmbH acquired media search engine GoWatchIt from New York-based Plexus Entertainment LLC, Variety reported.

Financial terms of the cash-and-stock transaction were not disclosed.

The deal will allow JustWatch to open an office in New York. The office will be headed by GoWatchIt founder and CEO David Larkin, who is joining JustWatch as its new senior vice president of marketing and strategy.

JustWatch launched five years ago and is also available in Mexico, Italy and Australia, among other markets. GoWatchIt, meanwhile, started in 2011 as a search guide for watching films online and in theaters, according to Variety.
