Amazon.com Inc. has acquired healthcare startup Health Navigator Ltd. as part of its new healthcare offering for employees, a company spokesperson confirmed to S&P Global Market Intelligence on Oct. 23.
Health Navigator is based in London and specializes in the provision of innovative health care services for high-risk patient groups. The business will be part of Amazon Care, which offers services like in-app consultations with a healthcare professional, delivery for medications, and in-person services for testing or treatment.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal marks Amazon's second acquisition in the healthcare industry after it bought PillPack in 2018. The PillPack acquisition was part of the online retailer's move in January 2018 to cooperate with Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. to create a technology-centered company that offers more affordable healthcare to U.S. employees and their dependents.
