Synovus launches specialty finance division, structured finance team

Columbus, Ga.-based Synovus Financial Corp. unit Synovus Bank launched a specialty finance division and structured finance team, focused on providing debt capital financing and commercial banking solutions to fund companies operating in the sector.

The new division builds on Synovus' acquisition of insurance premium finance lender Global One Financial Inc. in 2016. Jonathan Rosen, the founder of Global One, will lead the new division as CEO.

Sal Carvo, Jayan Krishnan and Roman Mazo joined the division as managing directors, while Mehul Patel will be director. Carvo was most recently with Fitch Ratings and MUFG Americas and Krishnan was previously group head of asset securitization at DZ Bank AG. Mazo was previously senior vice president of strategic credit products at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., while Patel was vice president of asset securitization with DZ Bank.

The specialty finance division is a business unit of the newly defined wholesale bank line of business for Synovus Financial.
