Total U.S. nuclear plant availability turned lower early Feb. 27 to 92.61%, down from 93.16% on Feb. 26 but still much higher than the 89.72% reported on the same day last year.
Working to cut total output was reduced production at American Electric Power Co. Inc.'s Donald C. Cook 2 plant in Michigan. The unit was operating at 50% power early Feb. 27, down from 100% the day prior. The reason for the curtailment has not been disclosed.
In addition, as of early Feb. 27, Tennessee Valley Authority's Browns Ferry 3 in Alabama; Calvert Cliffs 1 in Maryland, which is owned by Exelon Corp. and EDF Group; PG&E Corp.'s Diablo Canyon 2 in California; Entergy Corp.'s Indian Point 3 in New York; and Exelon's LaSalle County Generating Station in Illinois remain offline.
