Aspen Technology Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, amounted to 43 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 39 cents per share.
EPS climbed 33.3% year over year from 32 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $35.8 million, an increase of 23.3% from $29.0 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 30.0% from 26.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 10.5% on an annual basis to $119.2 million from $107.8 million, and total operating expenses came to $61.8 million, compared with $61.3 million in the prior-year period.
Reported net income rose 19.7% from the prior-year period to $36.8 million, or 44 cents per share, from $30.8 million, or 34 cents per share.
