Appalachian Power offering 100% renewable option to Virginia customers

Appalachian Power Co. is offering a 100% renewable energy option to its Virginia customers, according to an Aug. 20 company news release.

Through its wind, water and sunlight service program, which was approved by state regulators, the American Electric Power Co. Inc. subsidiary will supply 100% renewable power to customers using the company's current and planned resources.

Currently, Appalachian Power owns, operates and has contracted wind, hydro and solar projects with a capacity of 341 MW.

A premium amount of about $ .00425/kWh will be added to the bills of customers who choose to subscribe to the program.
