Belgian court orders Facebook to stop collecting user data

Facebook Inc. could face a fine of up to €100 million if it fails to comply with Belgium's privacy laws, Reuters reported Feb. 16.

Ruling on a case filed by the Belgian privacy watchdog, a Belgian court ordered the social networking giant to delete all the information it has collected illegally about the country's citizens, including people who did not use Facebook.

In a statement, the court said Facebook has not sufficiently disclosed how it collects the information or what kind of data it collects and what it does with that data.
