Berjaya Sports Toto fiscal Q2 profit falls YOY

Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Oct. 31 amounted to 5 Malaysian sen per share, a decrease of 20.3% from 7 sen per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 70.4 million ringgits, a decline of 20.7% from 88.9 million ringgits in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 4.9% from 7.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 15.1% year over year to 1.44 billion ringgits from 1.25 billion ringgits, and total operating expenses climbed 19.4% year over year to 1.32 billion ringgits from 1.11 billion ringgits.

Reported net income declined 29.1% from the prior-year period to 70.6 million ringgits, or 5 sen per share, from 99.7 million ringgits, or 7 sen per share.

As of Dec. 18, US$1 was equivalent to 4.28 ringgits.
