Zalando sets target for more diverse leadership

Zalando SE on Oct. 15 said it is aiming to have a balanced gender representation of men and women on its top six leadership levels by the end of 2023.

The online fashion retailer said its goal is for men and women, as well as non-binary genders, to reach a representation between 40% and 60% on each level in order to improve diversity in the company. The leadership levels include the management board and supervisory board

"During the past 11 years, we have been very focused on establishing and growing our business, and we didn't put enough effort into countering structural imbalances that have evolved," co-CEO Rubin Ritter said in a statement. "We acknowledge that today we lack diversity in our senior management, and we are committed to changing this."

Zalando said it will report on this initiative and other diversity projects annually.
