EnerNOC Inc. won a contract to supply 60-MW of turnkey demand response capacity to Kyushu Electric Power Co. Inc., according to a Feb. 2 release.
The contract comes after several successful pilots with multiple Japanese utilities, according to EnerNOC, which plans to start providing the demand response capacity beginning in the summer of 2017. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
EnerNOC Japan is a joint venture with Marubeni Corp. established in 2013.
Japan's electric demand is similar to that of PJM Interconnection, which is EnerNOC's biggest market, and represents a significant growth opportunity, the company said.
