Japanese unemployment rate steady at 2.5% in April

Japan's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 2.5% in April, unchanged from the previous month, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications showed on May 29.

The number of unemployed persons in April was 1.80 million, a decrease of 170,000, or 8.6%, from the same period in 2017.

The jobs-to-applicants ratio was 1.59 in April, unchanged from March, Reuters reported, citing government data.
