Alpen Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30 came to ¥51.33 per share, an increase of 13.8% from ¥45.11 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥2.08 billion, an increase of 13.8% from ¥1.83 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 3.4% from 3.0% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue came to ¥60.32 billion, compared with ¥60.50 billion in the year-earlier period, and total operating expenses decreased year over year to ¥57.19 billion from ¥57.94 billion.
Reported net income came to a loss of ¥2.66 billion, or a loss of ¥65.75 per share, compared to income of ¥625.0 million, or ¥15.44 per share, in the prior-year period.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥63.88 per share, a decline of 10.4% from ¥71.26 per share in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥2.59 billion, a decrease of 10.4% from ¥2.88 billion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased year over year to ¥223.64 billion from ¥218.95 billion, and total operating expenses grew year over year to ¥220.46 billion from ¥215.82 billion.
The company said reported net income totaled a loss of ¥2.26 billion, or a loss of ¥55.89 per share, in the full year, compared with income of ¥1.12 billion, or ¥27.59 per share, the prior year.
As of Sept. 28, US$1 was equivalent to ¥100.73.
