Amazon.com Inc. said Sept. 23 that it plans to build a new fulfillment center in Scarborough, Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario.
The new warehouse will span 1,000,000 square feet and add more than 600 full-time jobs, according to the release.
The facility will be Amazon's 12th fulfillment center in Canada and seventh in Ontario.
Employees at the fulfillment center will select, pack and ship small items such as toys, baby products and small electronics to customers.
Amazon said it now employs more than 4,000 full-time workers in Ontario and 1,000 more workers at its two tech hub locations in Toronto.
Broccolini Construction Inc. is developing the fulfillment center in partnership with its owner Manulife Investment Management.
