Brazilian credit bureau Boa Vista SCPC opened an investigation into a possible hacker intrusion in its system on Sept. 2, Folha de São Paulo reports.
Although the company did not confirm the attack, hacking group Fatal Error published a message on a site addressed by cybersecurity experts claiming they had gained access to Boa Vista's database, according to the newspaper.
"We do not post any information from any Brazilian, because we cherish their privacy. However, I suggest changing all your passwords soon," the hacker group's post reportedly said
According to Folha, Boa Vista has data such as social security numbers, addresses and financial history data.
In a note published by local media, Boa Vista stated that it regularly audits, protects and analyzes any communications related to its activity and that it is investigating the origin and extent of the alleged incident.
