Report: SK Innovation plans to sue LG Chem in US over alleged patent breach

SK Innovation Co. Ltd. said it intends to file U.S. lawsuits against LG Electronics Inc., LG Chem Ltd. and LG Chem Michigan Inc. alleging patent infringements regarding electric vehicle batteries, Reuters reported.

LG Chem manufactures battery cells in Michigan that are used by LG Electronics to deliver finished batteries.

LG Chem previously filed a lawsuit against SK Innovation in the U.S. over alleged trade secrets theft, claiming the latter hired ex-LG Chem staff. YS Yoon, president of SK Innovation's battery business, reportedly said the latest plans are unrelated to the LG Chem suit.
