DBTEL Q1 loss narrows YOY

DBTEL Inc. said its normalized net income for the first quarter came to a loss of 22 Taiwan cents per share, compared with a loss of 31 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of NT$41.0 million, compared with a loss of NT$56.8 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to negative 22.4% from negative 28.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined 9.5% on an annual basis to NT$183.3 million from NT$202.6 million, and total operating expenses decreased year over year to NT$223.7 million from NT$234.5 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of NT$58.0 million, or a loss of 31 cents per share, compared to a loss of NT$85.1 million, or a loss of 46 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
