Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC is further expanding its partnership with U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. in terms of both time and scope, the British grocer said Sept. 12.
The companies agreed to a multiyear partnership under which it will work together over a number of years instead of on a rolling basis. They will also explore opportunities to innovate and improve the shopping experience for both Amazon and Morrisons customers.
The new arrangement builds on the announcement in June that the two have expanded their delivery partnership to roll out the same-day grocery delivery service, previously called "Morrisons at Amazon," to more cities across the U.K., including Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield and Portsmouth, in 2019.
The service is already available to Prime Now members in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and other parts of London and the home counties. Morrisons and Amazon plan to launch the delivery option in more cities across the U.K. in the future.
