Insurance moves: Sun Life Financial names president for Sun Life Asia

Sun Life Financial Inc. named Léo Grépin president of Sun Life Asia, effective Dec. 31.

He will be responsible for the company's life, health and wealth management businesses in the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and India and its international high net worth business.

He will replace Claude Accum, who is retiring.

Grépin serves as president for ASEAN and regional distribution and marketing at Sun Life.

Kalum Laksri Wijesooriya was appointed alternate director to D.P.N. Rodrigo at the board of Sri Lanka-based HNB Assurance PLC and its subsidiary, HNB General Insurance Ltd., effective Sept. 2.

The appointment was approved by the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.

Wijesooriya serves as chief employee experience officer and assistant general manager for deposits and remittances at Hatton National Bank PLC.

HNB Assurance is a subsidiary of Hatton National Bank.

Bair served as member and COO at Crawford Advisors LLC.

McGill & Partners Ltd. appointed David Barrie a partner, The Insurance Insider reported.

Barrie was reinsurance head at Price Forbes & Partners Ltd.

McGill & Partners is a specialty risk solutions startup backed by private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC.

Aon PLC appointed Nick Green head of sales for its global and corporate client segment, based in Melbourne.

Green will retain his role as national practice leader for sport.

Aviva Canada Inc. named Mark LeBlanc managing director of broker distribution and marketing, effective Sept. 9.

LeBlanc was executive vice president of Ontario and Atlantic Canada at Northbridge Insurance.

Aviva Canada is a subsidiary of Aviva PLC.

Beach & Associates Ltd. appointed Gavin Johns and Richard Emson to its London wholesale division.

Johns and Emson worked within the facilities and binders division at JLT Re.

Reinsurance

Aspen Re named Jamie Lewis head of London and global product head for specialty reinsurance, The Insurance Insider reported.

He replaces Peter Emblin, who was appointed senior managing director in the U.S. at Aspen Re.

Lewis will continue to serve as deputy active underwriter at Lloyd's of London Syndicate 4711 and will continue to oversee the London casualty team at Aspen Re.

Lockton Re appointed Simon Mills and Fraser Howard to its global healthcare reinsurance business, based in London, Reinsurance News reported.

Mills was partner at the U.K. and European healthcare business at Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group Ltd., while Howard served as partner at the London and North American treaty team.

Lockton Re is the reinsurance division of Lockton Inc.

Capsicum Reinsurance Brokers LLP, which does business as Capsicum Re, made a number of appointments to its cyber team.

Umair Ghani was appointed cyber pricing actuary and Thomas Lashkari cyber analyst. Jennifer Braney and Sebastien Plummer were also appointed as brokers.

Ghani was a casualty lines pricing actuary at American International Group Inc., Lashkari served as a pricing analyst at Direct Line Insurance Group PLC, Braney was a senior underwriter at Liberty Specialty Markets Ltd., and Plummer served as an assistant vice president in the cyber, media and tech errors and omissions team broker at Paragon International Insurance Brokers Ltd.

Willis Re named Franck Pinette leader of its international life and health practice, effective Sept. 1.

He replaces Greg Solomon, who is leaving the company.

Pinette served as managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa life and health at Willis Re.

Willis Re is the reinsurance business of Willis Towers Watson PLC.
