Alphabet Inc. unit Google Inc. removed 3.2 billion ads that violated its advertising policies in 2017.
The U.S. search giant blocked 79 million ads in its network for attempting to send people to malware-laden websites, according to a March 14 official blog post. Google removed 320,000 publishers from its ad network for violating publisher policies last year.
In 2017, the company added 28 new advertiser policies and 20 new publisher policies to deal with new threats and to improve users' ad experience online.
"As consumer trends evolve, as our methods to protect the open web get better, so do online scams," Google said. "Improving the ads experience across the web, whether that's removing harmful ads or intrusive ads, will continue to be a top priority for us."
