Spanish lender Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA launched a €1 billion senior nonpreferred debt, Global Capital reported.
The debt is a type of bond that can absorb losses in the event that the issuer falls into trouble.
The fixed-rate notes, which have a 0.375% coupon, will mature Oct. 2, 2024, Cbonds reported.
ABN Amro, BBVA, Citi, Mediobanca, Société Générale and UBS were the book runners on the issuance.
The Spanish lender, which attracted orders in excess of €1.8 billion for the offering, expects to issue between €2.5 billion and €3.5 billion of nonpreferred debt in 2019, Global Capital noted.
