Equinor awarded new permit offshore Western Australia

Equinor ASA secured a new permit to explore an area in the Northern Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia.

Equinor was granted the exploration permit for WA-542-P, which is located near the Dorado oil discovery, according to an Oct. 10 news release from Equinor.

The block has an area of 4,815 square kilometers, with water depth ranging from 80 meters to 350 meters. It lies about 100 kilometers from the Australian coast.

Under the work program, Equinor will conduct geological and geophysical studies, reprocessing of seismic data and new 3D seismic acquisition.

Equinor will serve as project operator and will own a 100% stake.
