Toyota US sales fall 6.1% YOY in December

Toyota Motor Corp. on Jan. 3 reported a 6.1% year-over-year drop in U.S. sales for December 2019 on a volume basis.

The Japanese automaker's U.S. arm sold 207,373 vehicles in the month, compared with 220,910 in December 2018.

The Toyota division recorded sales of 172,048 units, down 7.2% year over year on a volume basis. Sales of the Lexus brand dropped 0.6% year over year to 35,325.

Sales of Toyota hybrid vehicles rose 50.7% year over year in December to 27,713 units.

For the full calendar year, Toyota reported a 1.8% decline in total U.S. sales. The company sold 2,383,349 vehicles in 2019, compared with 2,426,673 in 2018.
