* Northern Trust Corp. tapped Wim van Ooijen to lead the Chicago-based bank's business activities in Switzerland. Van Ooijen joined Northern Trust in 2004 and currently serves as country head for the Netherlands and Germany.

* John Giegerich succeeded Scott Jordan as BB&T Corp.'s Atlanta market president, effective May 1, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.

Giegerich joined the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based bank from Houston-based BBVA Compass Bancshares Inc., while Jordan now leads BB&T's North Metro Atlanta market, according to the report.

* River City Bank promoted Dan Franklin to senior vice president and Bay Area commercial banking director. Franklin joined the Sacramento, Calif.-based bank in 2008.
