New York Times setting up Australian office

The New York Times is preparing to open an office in Sydney and appointed Damien Cave to lead the newspaper's Australian team, The Sydney Morning Herald reported Jan. 24.

The new bureau will focus on creating local stories, and newsletters targeting Australian readers will be launched on a daily and weekly basis.

The newspaper also tapped Jacqueline Williams, a member of the Times' investigations team, and regular contributor Michelle Innis to be part of the Sydney bureau, according to a Jan. 24 report by B&T.
