Ansys profit misses consensus by 29.1% in Q3

Ansys, Inc. said its normalized net income for the third quarter came to 62 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 87 cents per share.

EPS climbed year over year from 61 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $56.7 million, compared with $56.8 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to 23.8% from 24.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed year over year to $237.8 million from $234.0 million, and total operating expenses grew from the prior-year period to $147.4 million from $143.2 million.

Reported net income came to $65.9 million, or 72 cents per share, compared with $65.7 million, or 70 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
