Siemens to build 446-MW combined-cycle gas turbine plant in France

Siemens Gas and Power will build a 446-MW combined-cycle gas turbine plant in western France, following a €450 million order placed by Compagnie Electrique de Bretagne.

As part of the order, Siemens Gas and Power will operate and maintain the plant for a 20-year period after its expected completion in the second half of 2021, according to a Sept. 4 news release.

Siemens Financial Services, the financing arm of Siemens AG, held a 40% equity stake in the project during its seven-year development phase. The stake was subsequently sold to Total Direct Énergie, the owner of Compagnie Electrique de Bretagne.

The power plant is expected to help reliably cover Brittany's growing electricity demand.

Total Direct Énergie is a subsidiary of TOTAL SA.
