Independent Community Bankers of America sues Equifax

The Independent Community Bankers of America has filed a lawsuit against Equifax Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, calling for the company to compensate all community banks harmed by its recent data breach.

Zachary, La.-based Bank of Zachary and Barboursville, W.Va.-based First State Bank joined ICBA in the suit.

The suit also calls on the court to direct Equifax to employ adequate security protocols to protect personally identifiable information and payment card data.
