Goldman Sachs Group Inc. intends to hire about 250 people in Warsaw in 2018, which could increase its headcount in Poland by nearly 50%, the Financial Times reported, citing Brent Watson, head of the bank's Polish technology and operations office.
The company expects to increase its staff strength to between 750 and 800 from 525 by the end of 2018, according to the report. About 85% of the company's staff in Warsaw work in operations and technology, while the others work in risk management, treasury and human resources. Watson said the company took the decision because of operational concerns.
The FT reported that Standard Chartered Plc may also open an office that may house about 500 staff in the city.
