Triton Minerals Ltd. on Dec. 13 released an updated resource estimate for its Ancuabe graphite project in Mozambique, with indicated and inferred resources totaling 46.1 million tonnes at 6.6% total graphitic carbon for 3.0 million tonnes of contained graphite.
The new estimate is a slight increase over Ancuabe's recent resource update, released Nov. 30, comprising 44.4 million tonnes at an average grade of 6.6% total graphitic carbon for 2.9 million tonnes of contained graphite.
Triton said indicated resources, estimated to contain 2.2 million tonnes of contained graphite, are sufficient for a mine life of more than 30 years, assuming annual graphite concentrate production of up to 60,000 tonnes.
The resource update will be incorporated into a definitive feasibility study on Ancuabe scheduled for release this month but will not be included in the study's mining plan due to timing, enabling further optimization following the release of the study.
According to Triton, the new estimate further increases confidence on the T16 deposit, which will be the initial mine development at Ancuabe under the definitive feasibility study. T16 hosts indicated and inferred resources totaling 20.8 million tonnes at 7.9% total graphitic carbon for 1.7 million tonnes of graphite.
