Myanmar's Kanbawza Bank Ltd. and Export-Import Bank of Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding to promote trade and investment.

The two banks will promote Thai-Myanmar trade and share their expertise, according to a July 31 release. Trade between the border countries totals more than US$7 billion, it added.

Kanbawza Bank plans to more than double the number of its branches to 1,000 by 2020, while Export-Import Bank of Thailand is looking to expand in ASEAN by opening representative offices in Laos and Cambodia, among other things.
