Police and prosecutors confirmed that Aivar Rehe, the former CEO of Danske Bank A/S' Estonian unit, died by suicide, Bloomberg News reported.
Rehe, who served as head of the branch between 2007 and 2015, went missing for days before his body was found near his Tallinn home. He was not considered a suspect in any case or probe and was not part of a group of bankers that police detained in 2018.
The Estonian branch is at the epicenter of the Danish lender's growing $200 billion money laundering scandal, which sparked global investigations, class-action lawsuits and a flurry of executive departures.
