Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA/NV is planning to expand its low- and no-alcohol beer category as it predicts a 20% sales growth in the segment by 2025, food and beverage news outlet FoodBev reported March 2, citing statements from CEO Carlos Brito in a conference call after the company released its 2017 results.
Brito reportedly said the company, which makes products under the Budweiser and Corona brands, is looking to explore easy drinking and flavored liquids to attract consumers who want to reduce their alcohol intake.
The report said about 8% of the Belgian brewer's volumes now come from its low- or no-alcohol product range, which now includes the alcohol-free Budweiser Prohibition, launched in the U.K. in 2017.
AB InBev is among the consumer companies that have recently cited concern with U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff imposition.
