Macy's to hire 80,000 seasonal workers for 2019 holidays

Macy's Inc. said Oct. 3 that it will hire about 80,000 seasonal workers for the 2019 holiday shopping season.

The positions will be opened at the U.S. department store chain's namesake stores, Bloomingdale's locations, call centers and distribution and fulfillment centers.

The company is offering full-time, part-time and flexible positions.

Macy's will hold a national hiring event at all stores, call centers and distribution sites on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in local time zones.

Of the total positions to be opened, about 30,000 will be assigned to fulfillment facilities; nearly 1,000 will be hired at call center sites; and 1,000 will be hired to support the 93rd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santalands and other holiday events.

Macy's hired the same number of seasonal workers for the holiday season in 2018.
