Qatar Petroleum unit signs long-term deal to unload LNG in Belgium

Qatar Terminal Ltd., a subsidiary of Qatar Petroleum, and Fluxys LNG SA, a unit of independent natural gas company Fluxys Belgium SA, signed a long-term LNG unloading services agreement for the Zeebrugge LNG terminal in Belgium, according to a Sept. 2 release.

Under the agreement, Qatar Terminal booked Zeebrugge's full capacity from the end of existing long-term unloading contracts until 2044.

Qatar Terminal is currently part of an existing agreement in which approximately 50% of the Zeebrugge terminal's capacity is used to deliver Qatari LNG into Belgium under long-term LNG agreements, according to a separate Sept. 2 release from Qatar Petroleum.

The Zeebrugge LNG terminal is operated by Fluxys LNG and was commissioned in 1987. The terminal has an LNG storage capacity of 380,000 cubic meters, spread over four tanks, as well as an annual natural gas throughput capacity of 9 billion cubic meters. A fifth tank with a capacity of 180,000 cubic meters is currently under construction.
