EMR Capital is planning to double annual output at the Lubambe copper mine in Zambia to over 40,000 tonnes in the next two years, Reuters reported Feb. 14, citing EMR Executive Chairman Owen Hegarty.
Speaking after the closing of the deal, Hegarty said the company will conduct a feasibility study in the next six months on another mine within the Lubambe license area with an aim to develop a new mine over the next two years.
In December 2017, EMR Capital completed the US$97.1 million acquisition of an 80% stake in Lubambe from African Rainbow Minerals Ltd. and Vale SA.
