Tone Co. fiscal Q1 profit climbs YOY

Tone Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Aug. 31 came to ¥15.46 per share, an increase from ¥6.37 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥31.9 million, a gain from ¥13.1 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 3.5% from 1.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 14.9% on an annual basis to ¥909.0 million from ¥791.0 million, and total operating expenses grew 11.0% on an annual basis to ¥859.0 million from ¥774.0 million.

Reported net income totaled ¥4.0 million, or ¥1.94 per share.

As of Oct. 10, US$1 was equivalent to ¥107.98.
