A 2.2-MW fuel cell generator has started providing power to Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, Conn. The power plant is owned by Avangrid Inc.
FuelCell Energy Inc. developed the fuel cell, which provides "Class 1" renewable power and heat to the high school, said Avangrid's Jan. 23 statement.
The fuel cell contributes to Avangrid's 10-MW clean energy commitment with Connecticut's renewable connections program. The balance of the capacity is supplied by a 3.4-MW facility in Hartford, a 2.3-MW plant in New Haven and a 2.8-MW plant in Fairfield.
