Pakistan's OGDCL makes 1st oil, gas discovery in Hangu formation

Oil and Gas Development Co. Ltd. said Sept. 10 that crude oil and gas have been discovered from an exploratory well in its joint-venture Chanda D&PL in District Kohat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

The discovery in the exploratory well Chanda No. 01 is the first from the Hangu formation in the Chanda oilfield. The well has tested 700 barrels per day of crude oil and 2.2 MMcf/d of gas.

OGDCL, with 72% interest, is the operator of the joint venture with Government Holdings (Private) Ltd holding 17.5% stake and Zaver Petroleum Corp. Ltd. holding a 10.5% interest in the project.
