ArcLight to sell upstream ownership of 595-MW block in Ariz. gas-fired plant

A subsidiary of ArcLight Energy Partners Fund V is proposing to sell 100% of the indirect upstream membership interest in the second block of the Mesquite Power natural gas facility to a subsidiary of Southwest Generation Operating Co. LLC.

In a May 16 application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the applicants sought approval for the transaction. The second block of the project is a 595-MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle electric generating facility in Maricopa County, Ariz. Of the total output of the facility, 271 MW is being sold to 20 wholesale purchasers, while the remaining output is being sold on a merchant basis in the wholesale market.

Infrastructure investment fund IIF US Holding GP LLC indirectly controls Southwest Generation.

FERC is being asked to approve the transaction by July 2. (FERC docket EC18-92)
