The government of Alberta increased its November and December oil production limits by 10,000 barrels per day as it manages takeaway capacity constraints, the administration announced Sept. 26.
With the boost, the overall production limit for November and December would be 3.80 million bbl/d and 3.81 million bbl/d, respectively, as compared to October's limit of 3.79 million bbl/d.
Under the updated oil production curtailment policy announced in August, Alberta raised the limit exemption for producers to 20,000 bbl/d, from 10,000 bbl/d. This reduces the number of companies covered by the curtailment to 15 out of more than 300 producers in Alberta, from 29 producers under the previous policy.
The Minister of Energy has issued letters to curtailed operators advising them of the updated limit.
