Showa fiscal Q3 profit climbs 6.9% YOY

Showa Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥33.22 per share, an increase of 6.9% from ¥31.07 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥2.52 billion, an increase of 6.9% from ¥2.36 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 3.7% from 3.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose on an annual basis to ¥68.55 billion from ¥67.07 billion, and total operating expenses climbed on an annual basis to ¥64.19 billion from ¥62.26 billion.

Reported net income rose 31.2% from the prior-year period to ¥3.98 billion, or ¥52.42 per share, from ¥3.04 billion, or ¥39.97 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
